Who Sponsored the Bill in the Florida Senate?

Florida Senate Bill 818 (2020) was sponsored by Senator Ed Hooper, a Republican member of the Florida Senate, representing the 16th District.  This district includes Clearwater and Largo in northern Pinellas County, Senator Hooper has a long history of public service.  He’s a retired firefighter, former Clearwater, FL city commissioner from 1996 to 2000, and served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2008 2013.  When he reached his term limit in the Florida house he ran for a seat on the Pinellas County Commission and was defeated in 2014.  In 2018 he was elected to the Florida Senate where he introduced Florida Senate Bill 818 and our problems begin.
